Hi, my name is Strelitzia
I am the Strelitzia Nicolai, better known as the Bird of Paradise plant. A beautiful name for a beautiful plant! I have a very high decorative value because of my large, shiny leaves and my unique growth. With me in the house, you will spontaneously feel like you are in a tropical paradise!
Originally I come all the way from South Africa, where I grow very well and can even grow 10 metres tall! In nature, I can also grow beautiful bright-coloured flowers. This is what they also call Bird of Paradise flowers. Hence my nickname, the Bird of Paradise Plant! In your living room, unfortunately, I will not bloom.
Where should you place me?
Light, light, and some more light! This is very important to me and truly essential. I am a true tropical friend.
What do I like?
I like to have regular sips of lukewarm water. In the summer I can drink a lot more, so pay close attention to this. I also like fertilizer twice a month during the growing season!

Plantanious works together with the Work with Nature foundation. Our tropical rainforests are disappearing at a rapid pace and an enormous biodiversity is being lost along with the trees. If it were up to us, the jaguar would soon walk around again in the rainforest in Costa Rica protected by 'Adopt Rainforest'! The place where many of our special plants originate. In order to make an important contribution to the goal of the foundation - to protect 2,000 hectares of rainforest in the next ten years - we donate part of our turnover to protect part of the tropical rainforest. To achieve their goal, the foundation puts money into protection, conservation, reforestation, education and research.
